Open Up Speech Pathology provides compassionate, practical and evidence-based speech pathology support for children, adults, families, carers and support teams.

We work with people across the lifespan who may need support with communication, swallowing, mealtime safety, social connection, literacy, language, speech clarity, voice, cognitive-communication, and alternative or augmentative communication.

Our approach is warm, respectful and functional. We focus on what matters in everyday life — helping people communicate their needs, participate more confidently, connect with others, and access the supports they need to thrive.

Our History

Open Up Speech Pathology was founded by Ricci Presser, a highly experienced Speech Pathologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience across health, disability, rehabilitation, community services, early intervention and telehealth.

Ricci established Open Up Speech Pathology to provide personalised, high-quality speech pathology services that are practical, family-centred and grounded in real-world experience. Her background includes clinical leadership, service development, research, quality improvement, student education, adult rehabilitation, paediatric therapy, dysphagia, mealtime management and telehealth innovation.

Throughout her career, Ricci has worked across hospitals, community rehabilitation, aged care, disability, early childhood services, adult outpatient services and private practice. This broad experience allows Open Up Speech Pathology to support clients with a strong understanding of both clinical needs and everyday life demands.

Ricci’s career achievements include:

• More than 20 years’ experience working across health and disability.

• Clinical leadership roles in community rehabilitation and speech pathology.

• Advanced experience in swallowing and mealtime management, including videofluoroscopic swallow study competency.

• Leadership in the development of telehealth services, including helping establish a multidisciplinary community rehabilitation telehealth clinic.

• Research and presentations in tele-rehabilitation, stroke education and communication support.

• Awarded a $15,000 research grant to explore tele-rehabilitation for home-based clients.

• Poster and oral presentations at allied health and stroke conferences.

• Experience supporting quality improvement, accreditation, staff education, student supervision and service development.
